Why ignore the primary risk factor for death and chronic disease?

Unfortunately, medicine almost completely ignores the primary cause and risk factor for chronic disease—aging. This ignorance is based on a fallacious belief that aging is a non-treatable risk factor - a risk factor that we cannot influence. This belief is false. This situation has real and serious effects in everyday medical consultations, compelling practitioners to provide symptomatic relief or concentrate on the normalization of blood markers on pathology tests.

What’s needed is the urgent investment in and promotion of geroscience within the medical community. I see no greater need in preventive health at this time, no greater need in chronic disease management, and no greater deficit between the science and its clinical application.

This is my medical opinion. It is not a consensus medical opinion, but an opinion born out of years of monitoring and research of the cumulative evidence supporting the role, assessment, and treatment of aging as an independent and primary factor for chronic illness. Although this perspective has not yet achieved widespread acceptance in mainstream medicine, it is supported by rigorous study and analysis of the cumulative evidence.
