Demographic Collapse - an opportunity to fund Anti Ageing Research?

Many nations are on the brink of demographic collapse. Low birth rates have led to two severe challenges: a growing proportion of over-65s, often retired and on pensions, and a shrinking total population, with deaths dramatically exceeding births.

These challenges threaten to overwhelm economic systems and place unbearable strain on social services like healthcare and aged care. But there’s a bold and until now ignored solution: defeating aging.

Imagine a world where people in their 60s, 70s, and even 80s are healthy, active, and thriving. They could continue working, not just out of necessity, but because they want to. Reskilling, pursuing new careers, and enjoying decades of productivity could become the norm.

Retirement wouldn’t disappear but would evolve into something more flexible. Aging populations would no longer shrink the workforce. Instead, markets would adapt, creating a new reality where skills and demand align dynamically.

Total population numbers—critical for GDP growth and economies of scale—would stabilize. Even with low birth rates, economic decline could be avoided as death rates plummet and populations are sustained or even grow.

This future is within reach, but it requires vision and action. Policymakers must prioritize anti-aging research, education, and the rollout of treatments. Defeating aging isn’t just about health—it’s the key to solving economic and social crises.
